It was February 14th, Valentine’s Day. Waking up to know that I was about to go on an adventure of this scale was daunting. Because I pledged this journey to help kidney patients in need, I was to start my journey from MAA’s Kidney Centre on Jalan Pudu. The night before I had worried about not being able to carry the weight of over 60kg on my steel cromoly bike.

Let me tell you this. Never in a million years would I have thought that I’d have to pack for a 6-month long trip being confined to the capacity of a bicycle. Impossible as it seemed, I did manage to pack. And seeing that I’m here recounting the experience to you, I survived.

I got on my Long Haul Trucker, and when the 60kg heavy luggage burdened my body, the thought of not realizing the dream weighed down my shoulders even more. That was how it began. The journey from Kuala Lumpur to London took 6 months and not just that, it took all I had as a cyclist – my stamina and my endurance, living more than 12 hours on two wheels.
