Helping the needy has always been a cause close to my heart. Even after raising funds for the National Kidney Foundation a few years ago, I’ve made it a point to keep doing what I can to help — physically or financially. So last month, the CRC Team and I visited the Handicapped And Mentally Disabled Children Association Selangor.

The home located in Banting houses the handicapped and mentally disabled of many ages.

Others are elderly.. but all require living assistance. Despite the difficulties they face in their daily lives, they are all very cheerful and generous with their infectious smiles 🙂

Some of them have been here nearly their whole lives and it’s heartwarming to see that the association has managed to care for them considerably well with the help of many donors throughout the years. We joined that list of donors, in our own small but meaningful way.

But beyond monetary help, I think what they need most is company. They might not know any better about other things in life, but of love, they will.

Even though all I did was spend a few hours getting to know them, they were immensely moved.

I just wonder what a difference it would make, if we all tried to do a little more to help the helpless.
